Hitlers Iron CrossThe Iron cross is the greatest honor a German could recieve
WW1 had changed Hitler from a struggling artist attempting to just get something to eat to a evil despot who killed 1/3 of the Jewish population. Hitler was said to be a outstanding solider, one story states that he was running into no mans land to save a member of his squad. Interestingly enough Hitler was recommended the cross by Hugh Guttman a Jewish man. |
The Gallipoli campaignWinston Churchill did attempt a D-day type campaign in World War one. However it is not remembered as such. Its is seen as a absolute failure of the allies and complete waste of soldiers and equipment. The Gallipoli landing was put together by a young Winston Churchill looking to prove himself and was mainly composed of ANZAC troops, men from Australia, New Zealand the French Vs the fierce, confident, and legendary Mustafa Kemal with the 19th Turkish division and the Ottoman army. It began in around February-March and continued into late December of the same year when evacuation began and ended in January. Although the battle was important the most important thing it did was the creation of Turkey from its first President Mustafa Kemal or simpily Atatürk was the most important person on that beach since he was able to turn the battle in the ottomans favor after a move to take back then control the hills of the beach single handedly saving the ottomans position in world war one.
